Brian Patterson of Agilent Technologies is a distinguished biochemist, a passionate marine enthusiast, and a devoted family man. Originally from Webster, Texas, he has found a fulfilling balance in Parrish, Florida, where he expertly merges his professional expertise with his love for the ocean and his dedication to family. His journey is a testament to his unwavering commitment, inspiring leadership, and the respect he commands both in his professional achievements and personal life.
Raised in Clear Lake City, a Houston suburb, his upbringing was influenced by a blend of scientific discipline and artistic creativity. His parents, an aeronautical engineer, and a jewelry designer, fostered in him an early appreciation for precision and innovation. This diverse background shaped his character and future path. During high school, he was actively involved in sports, honing his leadership and teamwork skills, which later became foundational in his career.
After graduating from Clear Lake High School in 1991, he embarked on an academic journey at the University of Texas in Austin, obtaining a Bachelor of Arts in Biochemistry. His pursuit of academic excellence continued with a Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Polymers from Florida State University in 2000, laying a solid foundation for his future career.
His professional path began at Mosaic Technologies in Waltham, Massachusetts, where he excelled as a Senior Scientist. Here, he made significant contributions, notably in developing a novel 3-D biopolymer substrate for microarray fabrication, marking the start of a series of professional milestones. He then advanced through various roles at Matrix Technologies, Apogent Technologies, and Fisher Scientific, enhancing his expertise and leadership acumen.
In 2005, Dr. Brian Patterson joined Agilent Technologies. Starting as a Genomics Field Applications Scientist, he quickly climbed the ranks to become a Product Specialist and then a District Manager. His outstanding contributions earned him the prestigious President’s Club award in 2009 and 2014. From 2015 to 2022, he served as an Associate Vice President within Agilent’s Diagnostics and Genomics Group, leading three commercial channels and spearheading the Corporate Accounts channel.
